15 scripts, folks. Some of them, I would say 3, require very little of me. After that, they span from about 10min-45min shows that need to get memorized. Plus, our "Roaming"packet- that's all the phrases, words, games, dialogue we practice for when we are interacting with guests.
On Friday, first rehearsal day, we received a brief tour of the Disney rehearsal space in downtown Toronto. They keep it well hidden. There is no sign outside or inside the building. Nothing even on the digital elevator menu. You just have to know where to go and it's all key card access. And it's all underground; all the offices and 30 something rehearsal rooms (some are very small music rooms, others are large.) As you can imagine they are strict on phone use, but you are allowed to get a picture at the front desk with the logo. This will be my Instagram post below if approved.

Zayah and Gamble have a traveling show, that's our shtick. Zayah is a fortune teller and Gamble is a potions salesmen. The Gamble to my Zayah is a Scotsman named Caulumn. This is his 4th Disney cruise contract and he has been so kind and welcoming. We are going to be seeing a lot of each other, haha.

After our Friday rehearsal space tour we went through a brief Disney expectations presentation. Someday soon, I will go through the Disney Traditions class, which is for all the new hires where they, jokingly, brainwash you into thinking Disney is the best. Of course, in many ways it is, but also, in many ways it isn't. But I've heard the class is historical, inspiring, and fun. I am looking forward to it!
Then we jumped right into rehearsal. We've started with our longest show called "With Great Power" - an adults only, sketch comedy Marvel show. Think SNL. It's fun and silly and has A LOT of props. As of yesterday (Day 2), we are off book and blocked for half of it. The next half will happen over Mon and Tues and then we perform it for the head of Disney Cruise entertainment on Wednesday. We've also touched on a little music, as we do a fun Cruella De Vil show that requires some audience participation song writing.
Seeing how much we have to do and memorize I don't think I will be exploring much of Toronto, but that's okay! That's not the gig haha
Our director, Josh, has said many times that the creation of Zayah and Gamble is something new for Disney Cruises as no other ship has really had narrators before. We are kind of like the bookends to people's cruising experience. The Disney team is seeing great responses to this type of structure on the currently sailing Destiny and they want to start implementing it more. They have 4 more ships coming after all!
Other things coming to my head:
-Currently the rehearsal spaces are being used by the casts for the Destiny and Treasure. And I hear two more ships will be joining soon.
-Learning a lot of new terms: Zayah and Gamble are known as Ship Wide performers, cause we go everywhere. There are also Main Stage performers, Character performers,
Et Hosts (Entertainment Hosts), the VIPs (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc)
Alright I am off to run some errands and then back to memorizing!
If you have any specific questions drop them in the comments.
Love from Toronto!
Disney Song Inspiration Post #3: "Vuelie" from Frozen. One of our Main Stage shows is "Frozen" and recently, through one of the rehearsal doors, I heard our Elsa sinigng "Let It Go" and she sounded amazing, and two, it fits well with all the white flurries currently dancing around my apartment windows.

Already so much to tell! So new! So cool! One day at a time and before you know it you be sailing the seas! Love you tons! - Dad & Brandi
